During the final Open Draw of our Teken or Leave it events, before the Vide Summer Break, we will reflect together on Keti Koti. On July 1st, we commemorate the victims of slavery and simultaneously celebrate its abolition. Nieuwe Vide is closed* during the day because this is, and should be, a recognized national holiday for everyone. Nevertheless, we find it important to be together on that day.
We therefore encourage you, during this open drawing evening, to take a movement with us to reflect on and celebrate what the emancipation of enslaved people (and their families) and oppressed people means – in relation to Keti Koti, but also beyond. Tea and coffee will be available. Materials and paper will be provided.
