We have a limited availability to answer the phone. For questions you can contact us at info@nieuwevide.nl
We ask you kindly to follow the instructions from our staff. We work mostly with (young) volunteers during opening hours of the exhibition, who will ensure your visit can happen as safely as possible. It would be nice if you could be extra kind to them!
Directions to Nieuwe Vide From Haarlem Central Station
It’s a 15 minute walk from the Haarlem station to Nieuwe Vide. Exit the train station at the back (opposite the ‘city side’ exit).
Public transport
Buses are situated at the ‘city centre’ side of the train station. Take bus 15 from Haarlem station in the direction of Waarderpolder and Spaarnwoude. After getting off at the bus stop called “Wim van Eststraat” it’s a 6 minute walk to Nieuwe Vide. This bus stop is wheelchair friendly.
Accessibility exhibitions Nieuwe Vide
When you arrive at Nieuwe Vide at the Nieuwe Energie Terrein, there are short stairs, two steps up towards the main entrance. If you are unable to climb steps and ring the bell situated next to the main entrance, please give send us an email or DM us on Instagram so we can open the side door for you. Most of the time, the front door is open and the volunteer can see you coming when they’re inside.
The exhibition space is accessible for people using a wheelchair. There are additional iron movable ramps for the thresholds. The volunteer must put this down at your arrival. Of course this is depending on the wheelchair and the exhibition/artworks. Specifications will be announced per exhibition. Entrance is through the side door, which is at ground level but has two small thresholds.
Toilets are accessible only by climbing stairs. Unfortunately, at the moment we do not have a wheelchair accessible toilet.
We work mostly with (young) volunteers during the opening times of the exhibition. It is possible that it may take them some time to adjust to the new regulations and making the space more accessible. We appreciate your understanding.
Sound & noise
We are a so-called ‘broedplaats’ (creative work building), we share the building with artists and other creatives. There is almost always somebody present in the building and the environment can be a bit noisy
If exhibition projects make use of flashing lights, loud noises, or is not suitable for children we will announce this on our website, on our social media and at the entrance of our exhibition space. Most of the time there are dogs present in the building.
Animals
Dogs are very welcome at the artspace, only when they are kept on a leash in the exhibition space and can leave the art and other people alone.
Assistance dogs are more than welcome.
Communication and language
Our communication is mostly done in Dutch and English. If something is unclear please let us know.
Most of us speak English, but if you call the office and talk with someone who doesn’t, you can ask for another colleague; we’ll work it out!
We try to pay attention to accessibility for visually impaired people, if something does not work for you, please contact us.
If you foresee any issues or if you have questions or suggestions you can always send us an email: info@nieuwevide.nl
We appreciate feedback on accessibility and hope to welcome you at Nieuwe Vide!
