This Body of Ours (Dit Lichaam van Ons) is a temporary queer collective consisting of nine young comic creators. They ask the question: What does the future of comics in the Netherlands look like? They answer this question with a riotous, queer and colorful comic collection and exhibition at Nieuwe Vide. From the end of April they also participated in DOC4, our artist in residency, and developed new work for the exhibition on view until 29.09.

For Teken Or Leave it, Abe Borst gives a workshop in the context of the exhibition This Body of Ours: Beat Your Art Block. Many artists suffer from tension when drawing, or sometimes get completely stuck. Cartoonist Abe Borst is not unfamiliar with this situation, but over the years he has found exercises to relax and relax behind the paper again. In this workshop, Abe guides you through these exercises to regain your drawing flow.

About Abe Borst
Abe Borst is a versatile comic strip creator and illustrator who makes work for various target groups and purposes in daily life. From books for children about animals, to making complex information accessible to a larger audience in the form of infographics and live drawing. In his personal work he always ultimately comes back to the basics that motivate him to draw: monsters and himbos.

This Body of Ours (Dit Lichaam van Ons) has transformed Nieuwe Vide into a showcase of themselves as artists and cartoonists, with highlighted and enlarged images, sketches and character designs from the comic book. They also created new work during the residency in DOC4. In this way, the exhibition is a physical extension of the book.

The exhibition at Nieuwe Vide is open from Friday to Sunday, 12:00 noon – 5:00 pm until September 29. This is part of the Haarlem Stripdagen

Teken or Leave It is a bimonthly evening for illustrators, makers and people who like to create.
