21.01.2025: The Queer Image at the Schuur

The Queer Image on Tuesday, January 21

Nieuwe Vide and Schuur are joining forces with Unwanted Words for the upcoming Queer Image on January 21.

On Tuesday, January 21, we will be showing the film Queer. There will be an introduction beforehand and members of Unwanted Words Project will recite poetry. After the film we will talk in the café together with the Haarlem Town Queers Bookclub about the book and the film adaptation of Queer. The Unwanted Words Project Foundation is an award-winning platform for emerging queer poets and spoken word artists in the Netherlands.

Their goal as a collective is to create spaces where LGBTQ+ talent can flourish and connect with like-minded communities. They strive to provide more options for safe(r) spaces and opportunities for queer connection and growth. Together with Nieuwe Vide we will give a stage to word art this evening. With poetry by Tuaca Kelly and Leonie De Waal.

About the movie Queer
1950. William Lee, an American expat in Mexico City, spends most of the day on his own with the exception of a few contacts from the small American community. His meeting with Eugene Allerton, a former soldier and new to town, shows him for the first time that it may be possible to build an intimate connection with someone after all.
