Houtnacht&Houtfestival

Nieuwe Vide joined Houtnacht and Houtfestival again during the weekend on Saturday 17 June 2023, (6:00 PM-11:59 PM) and Sunday 18 June (12:00 PM-11:00 PM). We were part of the Tiny Festival where culture gets an extra stage during this musical Houtweekend. During Houtnacht Nieuwe Vide shows the performance Humanji: a sonically and visually hypnotic performance, a relationship between sound, image and movement. On Saturday evening there was a performance by Candela Murillo. On both days we showed a video installation based on the performance that emerged from the residency period last spring at Nieuwe Vide.

This performance asks everyone present to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. The abstract, dark journey will focus on exploring the possibilities of physical expression and vulnerability while removing one of the primary senses of all performers: sight.
Humanji is a project consisting of the creation and performance of an album by Starkbravado alongside a physical creation and performance choreographed by Candela Murillo. This project is co-curated by Nieuwe Vide, an exhibition space and an artistic breeding ground that focuses on experimentation and talent development.

Nieuwe Vide is a Haarlem cultural breeding ground and art space just outside the center where experimentation and talent development are central.
We are constantly looking for ways to connect art and society, based on the belief that art can help us think about new ways of viewing and organizing the world.
