Nieuwe Vide at Houtfestival

The 39th Houtfestival will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June 2024. Then you can enjoy the most surprising and diverse performances by local and international top artists. Houtnacht kicks off the festival on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM – 11:59 PM.

This Body of Ours (Dit Lichaam van Ons Collective) fills another container on behalf of Nieuwe Vide at the tiny festival section. Last year we showed a performance by Candela Murillo and this year Dit Lichaam van Ons will fill the container with exuberant queer comics, zines, live story telling by Gu(u)s Møystad (8:00 PM) and zine workshops will be given by Dido Drachman .

There is also a video installation by Valentijn Hamel. This video installation shows some drag videos. As a drag artist, Valentijn’s favorite activity is to combine narrative elements with fantastic visual ‘world building’, something that lends itself perfectly to the medium of film. He uses his love and knowledge of animation to create anime-style scenes of himself and his drag family ‘HAUS of 4D’.

GOLF container
Golf festival and Houtfestival are also joining forces again. There will be a container during Houtnacht with programming on behalf of Golf Festival.

The GOLF festival is a collaboration between the Haarlem cultural institutions Nieuwe Vide, 37PK and Pletterij en Quartair in The Hague. GOLF aims to provide space in Haarlem for challenging, experimental audiovisual art and explores the relationship between visual art and music through an artistic approach.

Het Walrus | Performance
Born as Tjalling Schrik in Haarlem. Played drums for 20+ years in theater performances at Susies Haarlok, Orkater and Veenfabriek and has now been active with modular synthesizers for 2+ years. His music is experimental, groovy, complex, dark and funny.

Pjotr ​​Lasschuit | Performance
Pjotr ​​is a storyteller. Using his modular and trumpet skills, Pjotr ​​creates journeys that lift you up, knock you down, but never let go. Expect subtle polyrhythms and jazz influences in a performance that focuses on sound, improvisation and moment exploration.

Jaromir Mulders | Performance/Installation: Tunnelvisie
Tunnelvisie is an installation consisting of a collection of LED strips placed along the walls of a container. Together these LED strips form a tunnel of light. This tunnel forms different patterns based on natural phenomena.
