Ambient Catharsis is an audiovisual performance and multimedia collaboration.
It features three international artists whose work explores, in various ways, questions around expressivity, solidarity, and resistance. This concert will use a unique “chained” structure, meaning: Artist 1 solo, Artists 1-2 duo, Artist 2 solo, Artists 2-3 duo, Artist 3 solo, and finally Artists 1-2-3 trio. All are welcome to attend this event, which aims to spark dialogue about the challenges and liberatory possibilities of contemporary sound and video art.
About the performers
Kristina Warren (kmwarren.org) is a sound and media artist based on Narragansett land, also known as Providence, Rhode Island [US]. Warren’s work incorporates various analog, digital, and acoustic sources, all with the goal of highlighting the unique ebbs and flows of listening attention. At Nieuwe Vide, Warren will present Three Rivulets (2024), an audiovisual piece whose kaleidoscopic visuals and mesmerizing tones blend retro and futuristic to create a curiously inviting media bath.
Luke Elliott (b. Leeds, UK) is a musician, composer, sound designer & synthesist based in Amsterdam, NL. Melding together analog & digital worlds from synthesis to field recordings, Luke’s work is both eclectic & cohesive as he encourages you to voyage with him or take a pause in his world. He forms his musical works via process exploration & setting limitations to traverse a multitude of subject matter from being proud of your friends to colonialism.
