Since 2016, we organized a film program about migration in our project space and everybody’s invited. Every three weeks we showed arthouse film (world cinema) and films of artists. Now and then an expert or artist will gave a presentation or lecture about these thematics. 

On sunday the 18th of December there was a special edition of Migration World Cinema. The programming was done by Nieuwe Vide’s Cine Club, that consists of people who originally come from countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Romania and USA. 

Films we did screen earlier as part of Migration World Cinema:

16th of June: ‘Dear Sister’ (2016) by Iranian-Canadian artist Rah Eleh and ‘The Cyclist’ (1987) by renowned Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf.

7th of July: ‘Britanya’ (2003) by Marjoleine Boonstra and ‘Samba’ (2014) by directors Eric Todelano & Olivier Nakache. 

28th of July: ‘Mezomaro’ (2016) by Canadian artist Giuliana Racco and ‘Nuovomondo’ (2006) by director Emanuele Crialese. 

25th of August: ‘The Right of Passage’ (2013) by artists Oliver Ressler & Zanny Begg and ‘Borders’ (2013) by director Jacqueline van Vugt. After the screening of Borders there was a Q & A with Van Vugt. 

29th of September: ‘Overruled’ (2016) by Iranian directors Farnaz Jurabchian and Mohammadreza Jurabchian. And afterwards:
‘Sonita’ (2015) by Iranian director Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami.

20th of October: The Baron’ (2002) by Romanian artist Stefan Constantinescu. And afterwards: ‘Stellet Licht’ (2007), a Mexican-French-Dutch production by director Carlos Reygadas.

10th of November:  ‘Voluntary Return’ (2014) by artist Ivette ‘Mrova’ Zub, 24 minutes. English.

And afterwards: Persepolis (2007) , by directors Marjane Sartrapi and Vincent Paronnaud.96 minutes. Different languages, English subtitles. After the screening of “Voluntary Return” there was an Q & A with Ivette Mrova Zub.

1 december: ‘How to dismantle an international border’ (2012) by Mexican artist Julio M. Romero. And afterwards: ‘Sleep Dealer’ (2008) by Mexican director Alex Rivera.
