Soundhackspace Workshops

ned / eng

Jaromir Mulders (http://www.jaromirmulders.nl) will give workshops at Nieuwe Vide, under the flag of Sound Hackspace.

Sound Hackspace will be an introduction of working with music and technology. We will work with programming and applying software on technique. This is useful for fine arts, music-, light- and sound modification. Guest teachers /artists will explain how they work technically and conceptually.

The workshops can be seen as an introduction. Afterwards we will see where to go deeper into technique and context according to the needs.

25.10.2017: Pure Data workshop

An introduction about Pure Data : an open source software made for artists an musicians, for them to be able to easily program / compose. You will learn the basics of the software and programming.

Bring your own laptop.

08.11.2017, 20:00-22:00u
Artist: Roald van Dillewijn http://roaldvandillewijn.nl/

Roald van Dillewijn is a soundartist that combines hard- and software to create new ways of making sounds. For a recent project Digilog , he hacked his collection of guitar pedals and given them the option to control them digitally. With this the pedals can be controlled and make sounds that they normally can not make.

From integration in modulair syntheziser- systems, to complete algorithm controlled by a computer; almost everything is possible because of these hacks. The adjusted pedals are used in his band The Void* and Tapage & Espoi. Roald also works on new music with these pedals. His album will be released in 2018 in a very special edition. During Sound Hackspace he will tell how his work progressed and will show what the possibilities are of these adjusted guitar pedals. Next to that he will give a small teaser of his latest project : an own design of a digital controlled guitar pedal.

22.11.2017 – Arduino Workshop

An introduction in Arduino. This is used to read hardware and control it. With this you can make installations that react to the environment: sound, light or certain distances. From synthesisers and sound to controlling light. You will learn the basics of the Arduino coding and hardware.

-working with small motors
-working with servo
-working with led
-working with breadboard
-working with Arduino yourself

Bring your own laptop.

06.12.2017, 20:00-22:00h
Artist: Vito Willems

https://soundcloud.com/vitowillems

An artist/maker/musician will tell about his or her own practise. For example artists that translate sounds to images or give a new context to sound via images. It can also include musicians that make instruments, hack instruments or make installations where new media arises.

20.12.2018 – Modulaire Synth Workshop/Modular Synth workshop

How do I program a synthesiser? In this workshop an introduction about the modular synthesis will be given. After that we will discuss the theory and history of the Modular Synth.

-History
-How does a modular synthesiser work.
-How do I start my own system
-Hands on with the modular synthesises.
-Live performances

10.01.2018, 20:00-22:00h

Artist will be announced.

24.01.2018 – Atari Punk Console Workshop

The Atari Punk Console is a synthesizer which is easy to built yourself and consists of a small amount of parts. Every participant will make an Atari Punk Console on a breadboard. With this they will learn schedule reading and how to work with a breadboard. Depending on the group progress the Atari Punk Console can be modified with different sensors : light, distance, preasure sensors, and so on.

31.01.2018 – Performance – Live Coding Event 20:00h

Different programmers get 6 minutes to make a musical program, by live programming. When the timer stops, the program deletes itself.

07.02.2018, 20:00-22:00h

Artist will be announced.

21.02.2018 – Circuit Bending Workshop

Every participant brings an old electronic device and/or toy with a low voltage that makes sound with him/her. Think of :
-A toy keyboard
-A Furby
-Electronic games
-Stuff with speakers
-Soundboard

We will look at these machines and find interesting points. We will try to control those by using buttons or sensors.
