We are back with a new edition of The Queer Image on September 13th,13:30- 15:00.
Together with filmmaker Bernardo Zanotta and curator of Nieuwe Vide Anne Mul, we will show a series of queer short films. This time, we show three short films that each explore identity, transformation, and the search for meaning in their own way. Featuring: Wild Fruits by Bernardo Zanotta, On Hold by Prins de Vos, and Reneepoptosis by Renee Zhan. Bernardo Zanotta, Prins de Vos, and Anne Mul will give a short introduction, followed by an aftertalk in the café.

In the Netherlands, the average waiting time at an academic gender team is currently three years. On Hold tells the stories of four individuals whose lives are currently ‘on hold.
“On Hold” is a poignant short documentary by photographer and filmmaker Prins de Vos, exploring the experiences of individuals waiting for gender-affirming care in the Netherlands. With an average waiting time of three years at academic gender clinics, the film delves into the emotional and psychological toll of this prolonged wait. Through the intimate stories of four individuals, “On Hold” sheds light on their struggles, hopes, and the impact of living in limbo as they await their first consultations. This powerful narrative not only highlights the urgent need for accessible care but also amplifies the voices of those whose lives are currently on hold.
