Composting Politics is a method for social change. Good compost is crucial for fertile soil. From this idea, Stefan Cammeraat, Matthieu Reijnoudt, Tessa Bourguignon, Ischa Borger, Veerle Driessen, Benjamin Schoonenberg, Haiko Sleumer, Cecilie Fang, Jip van Steenis, and Hilde Meeus, together with the reader, reflect on what we want to let grow and how.
Just as we compost food scraps, at Nieuwe Vide we compost ideologies and practices. We transform these practices through rotting, recycling, rethinking, and reshaping into something new. These processes can be altered with more or less attention: do you let the apple peels break down on their own? Or do you actively help by turning the compost heap every day? Some processes require more time than others — what choices do we make in that regard? When do we actively take part in the processes of decay from which we can grow, and what do we let decompose on its own, transform, and eventually return? In Compost Heap we shed light on the compost heap.
From 2 PM onwards everyone is warmly welcome for drinks (with snacks) at Nieuwe Vide Artspace, Energieplein 69, to toast to a beautiful magazine. At the same time, this is the last chance to see the exhibition, which we will jointly conclude at 5 PM.
Tubelight is a Dutch magazine for art criticism. Since 1998, the magazine has focused on critical reviews of small project and exhibition spaces and unconventional art presentations. Tubelight is published four times a year in print and also publishes regularly online via tubelight.nl. As an independent platform, it offers artists, writers, and thinkers space to share their vision on art — not only in reviews, but also in essays, free texts, and visual material.
Time: 14:00 to 17:00

Note: Not all spaces in our building are wheelchair accessible. The exhibition is largely accessible except for one installation (which can still be viewed without entering it), but unfortunately, the toilets are only accessible via stairs. The project space is accessible through the main entrance (with wheelchair ramp). Want to know more about accessibility at Nieuwe Vide? Visit: nieuwevide.com/toegankelijkheid/
