Upcoming edition of Designcafe

The next edition of Designcafe will be held on saturday the 10th of December. This time the presentation + workshop will be given by new Nieuwe Vide studio artists Joost Dankelman & Frederic de Milliano.

Joost: “I cycled through Amsterdam and saw many empty shrubberies in town in which nothing was growing. How can we transform these places in an easy way, so that you can change them into shrubberies with flowers in a day?

Seed Granades are inspired by the Japanese ‘earth balls’, also known as nendo dango. These balls consist of clay earth and seeds. If you thrown one of these on an empty fertile spot, flowers/ trees/ herbs will grow there.

We will fight against boring empty spots. You will be taught how you can make these seed granades, and not in a boring round object. No, we’ll make bombs and granates, so that we can go into battle. Let’s bomb Haarlem with flowers!”

The workshop starts at 11 am. Participation is free. We appreciate it if you sign up for the workshop because of the buying of extra equipment – send an email to mare@nieuwevide.nl, before the 8th of December.

Previous editions

The first designer that gave a lecture on July 9th 2016 was Ron Krielen, a social designer living and working in Eindhoven. He organized  Uit de Buurtfabriek . www.ronkrielen.nl 

On the 1st of October Elze van den Akker gave a presentation about her own practice. After that she gave a workshop. During this workshop we made something new out of plastic. Every kind of plastic could be used: plastic boxed used to pack mushrooms to empty chocolate milk cartons to bottle caps. www.pou-belle-design.nl 

On the 12th of November there was a workshop screen printing by the one and only Zeef Teef (https://www.facebook.com/zeefteef), who earlier on gave a screen printing workshop at Nieuwe Vide during the Kunstlijn weekend. This time the workshop started at 13:00 hours. Participation was free.
