28.02.2024 WEEK VAN DE HAARLEMSE NACHT – Open Draw & Music Night edition & Meer Queer conversation

On Wednesday, February 28, there will be A LOT to do at Nieuwe Vide as part of the Week of the Haarlem Night organized by Nachtwacht Haarlem.

TEKEN OR LEAVE IT – DJ HOPMAXX & JAROMIR MULDERS
19:00 – 22:30h
We start this Teken Or Leave it edition with a live DJ set by DJ Hopmaxx, combined with live visuals through live coding by Jaromir Mulders, where you can let your creative process be influenced by sound/music, just as Jaromir responds to the music with its visuals. Come dance, draw or just watch, from 7:00 PM. Teken or Leave It is a bimonthly evening at Nieuwe Vide: for illustrators, makers and all kinds of people who like to create. For more information click here.

DJ Hopmaxx typically plays some of the darker dance tracks, filled with melancholy and restlessness. She is influenced by The Hague superstars such as I-F and Unit Moebius, by genres like Detroit electro, EBM, italo, acid and new wave, as well as pop icons such as Rihanna, Das Pop and Anita Meyer. However, the impact of minimal music and ambient on her tastes cannot be underestimated, nor can the addictive, languid emotions these genres can stir up. That is why for this occasion, Hopmaxx will play a selection of less dance-able tracks by artists like Boards of Canada, Philip Glass and Laurie Spiegel.

Jaromir Mulders is a programmer, composer and designer. His main interest is creating systems that produce sound based on visual input. For instance taking algorithms from nature and searching for the boundaries and limitations of those algorithms. In these processes new sounds, shapes or textures are created, processed and fed back into the algorithm
