26.03.2026 – 21:00 – The Queer Image #12: Pillion x The Healers – Tim Leyendekker

ned / eng

The Queer Image presents the release of Pillion, paired with the short film The Healers by Tim Leyendekker.

Pillion follows Colin, a shy traffic officer living a quiet and lonely life, until he meets Ray, his complete opposite: charismatic, handsome, and dressed head to toe in leather. Drawn into Ray’s world of biker culture and sadomasochistic desire, Colin is forced to confront the limits of his devotion.

Directed by Harry Lighton in his feature debut, Pillion is a bold and intimate exploration of power, desire, and belonging, set against the backdrop of British motorcycle culture. Starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling, the film offers a raw and stylish portrait of an unlikely relationship.

Before the feature,
The Healers will be screened, with Leyendekker also present for a Q&A with the audience. The film is a deconstructed reconstruction of a memory set in the mid-nineties nightlife of Rotterdam, presented as a triptych: the thrills of the night, the location, the date. (The Healers, 2010, 10min, NL)

Tim Leyendekker is an artist and filmmaker based in Rotterdam and Strasbourg. He received an MFA from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. Leyendekker’s work has been shown both at film festivals and in art institutions with presentations at International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Power Plant (Toronto), MoMA (New York), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and Berwick Media Arts Festival, among others. His first feature film Feast (2021) was nominated for a Tiger Award at IFFR 2021 and received several awards, including the Loridan-Ivens CNAP award at Cinéma du Reel (Paris).

The Queer Image: a film program in English curated by Schuur and Nieuwe Vide! Together, we’ll choose a film that addresses themes relevant to the community. Films in which LGBTQ+ people and women aren’t marginalized or victimized, but instead raise their voices and take center stage. Alongside the film, there’s always an additional program, such as an introduction, discussion, or performance. Every edition is unique!
