We need to go, where the weeds grow
Collective Cyanotype in collaboration with participants of Teken or Leave It, with text by Stefan Cammeraat
We need to go, where the weeds grow is a collaborative artwork created under the guidance of artist Eva Kreuger. During a workshop at Nieuwe Vide, participants worked with collected objects, photographs, texts, and weeds from the immediate surroundings of the building. These elements were combined and captured as contact prints on various fabrics using the cyanotype technique.
The title refers to the dynamic relationship between artists and the places they temporarily inhabit. Art spaces like Nieuwe Vide illustrate how gentrification and art practices become unintentionally intertwined: as soon as an area begins to change, staying becomes impossible, and it is time to move on—seeking a new place where there is still room for experiment, community, and growth. A place where possibilities remain, where the weeds still grow.
On November 19nd, Eva Kreuger will be giving a second Cyanotype workshop during Teken or Leave It.
Tickets are already available. We’re using a sliding scale system. Can’t afford it? Come anyway!
More information about the (earlier) workshop you can find here This time you can also make an individual print.
The collective print can be seen in the exhibition Vide Cultura: through rot and renewal
