The GOLF festival is back in Haarlem after a year of absence. The week before Christmas from March 9th until March 13th will be all about challenging, experimental, audiovisual art. Artists and composers investigate the relationship between light and sound, between visual art and music. The name GOLF stands for the way in which images and sound come to us, like waves, and for the artists – often young up and coming talent – who are given a stage during this festival and are part of a wave of new, exciting experimental art forms.

For this third edition, the GOLF festival has been expanded to a five-day event. In addition to the three evenings with performances at Nieuwe Vide, 37PK and Pletterij, you can also follow a route along light projections along the Spaarne this year. View the full program of GOLF 2021 here.

During Golffestival a sneak preview of the video work Nieuwe Vide’s artist in resident: Harun Morrison will also be shown. This work will be shown in the project space and is a collaboration with
Olivia Abacherli. Morrison’s solo exhibition can be seen in Nieuwe Vide from March 17th until May 15th.
The GOLF festival originated from a collaboration between the Haarlem cultural institutions Nieuwe Vide, 37PK and Pletterij. Quartair, one of the oldest artist initiatives in The Hague, is an important party in suggesting potential participating artists. GOLF aims to offer space in Haarlem for challenging, experimental audiovisual art and explores the relationship between visual art and music, between visual and auditory perception, through artistic means. The GOLF festival (9 – 13th of March) is a five-day festival with performances and installation art around the interaction between image and sound.
Maarten Wesselius
Arno Duivestein (Pletterij)
Tamara Sterman (37HP)
Jaromir Mulders (Nieuwe Vide)
